A guiding light for every watch

MaritimeMentor exists for one reason: to put reliable, regulation-grounded answers within reach of every mariner — on every watch, in every timezone.

Why we built this

The rules haven't changed much in decades. Finding them shouldn't be hard work.

The regulations that keep seafarers safe — COLREGs, SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL — are thorough, well-written, and buried. They live in PDFs, ring binders, forum threads from 2011, and handbooks with coffee stains older than some of our users. The knowledge exists; the access is the problem.

MaritimeMentor started as a simple idea: ask the question the way you'd ask a colleague on watch, get the answer the way an officer would give it — direct, practical, and with the source named. Not another link dump. Not a wall of text with the answer hidden in paragraph four.

We're building it in the open, one watch at a time. The product is in preview today; the destination is an assistant that earns a place in the daily routine of working mariners worldwide.

What we stand on

Four principles that shape every feature decision.

Accuracy before speed

Answers cite the governing source by name — COLREGs Rule 15, STCW A-VIII/1, SOLAS Chapter V. When the assistant is unsure, it says so instead of guessing.

Built for the bridge

Every answer leads with the direct call, then the operational detail a watchkeeper actually needs. No essays when a three-line answer will do.

Your conversations are yours

Chat content is never used to train models, and history can be deleted at any time. Questions about your ship or your company stay yours.

Honest about limits

An AI assistant supports the mariner — it does not replace the officer of the watch, the master, or the official publications. The disclaimer stays on every page for a reason.

Who it's for

If the sea is your workplace, this is for you.

Cadets & students

Oral exam prep, rule lookups, and worked examples — without digging through photocopied notes.

Deck officers

Quick, cited answers on COLREGs, buoyage, and passage planning while the kettle boils.

Engineers & cross-trainees

Deck-side questions answered plainly when your background is elsewhere.

Instructors & academies

A study aid that shows its sources, so students learn where answers come from.

Where we are today

MaritimeMentor is a preview. The chat works, citations are coming with the knowledge layer, and accounts & sync are next on the chart. Early sign-ups lock founding-member pricing when paid plans launch.
